UPDATE: Tyler halted his campaign prior to the endorsing convention. Max Rymer declared shortly before the April 9 convention and was endorsed for the MN House 49B race.
Tyler Keenan (Bloomington Precinct 16) was extremely excited to formally announce his candidacy to represent House District 49 B at our March 1 caucuses. Tyler plans to first seek the Republican endorsement, and then the seat in the general election.
Tyler has been a Bloomington resident for most of his life and has deep ties to the community. After graduating from Kennedy High School in 2004, he went on to earn a degree in Political Science from the University of Minnesota in 2009, and then pursued additional coursework at the Widener University School of Law. After moving home to Bloomington he immediately started full-time work at A Better Way Health Center in Edina, where he is now a vice president, in addition to getting back to one of his passions: coaching youth lacrosse. Tyler is a member of Saint Michael's Lutheran Church and the Minnesota Young Republicans.
A passion for politics, frustration with current Democrat leadership, and a strong desire for change have all come together to fuel Tyler's decision to run.
“It seems like there is a real lack of common sense in Saint Paul right now, and our district's current representative (Democrat Paul Rosenthal) is on record saying he never really wanted the job,” said Tyler. Tyler is excited to have the full support of his family, and when elected he will work to keep our schools strong while closing the achievement gap, reel in out of control spending of our money in Saint Paul, and keep Minnesota a great place to do business.
